Wetumpka, Alabama is an interesting town. Though it is a small town, it has far more to offer the visitor than some might assume. You will find quite a few different things to see and do while in the town. The Elmore County Museum and the Elmore County Museum of Black History offer insight into the history of the area as well as a number of different artifacts in their permanent collection. While in the downtown area of town, you can pay your respects to those soldiers who fell in war at the Vietnam War Memorial. It is a large, beautiful monument made from granite. In the Crommelin’s Landing area, you can go hiking along some great trails and see the Bibb Graves Bridge as well as the first jail in the area, the Old Calaboose. Another area that everyone who comes to Wetumpka must see is the Al Holmes Wildlife Museum. At the museum are more than a thousand animals mounted and on display. Many different species are represented, from bears and big cats to sharks. You might also want to catch a show at the Wetumpka Depot Player’s Theater. You will find plenty to do while in the town of Wetumpka.
