You can visit the Rio Grande Gorge and enjoy a variety of outdoors recreational activities at this spectacular attraction. There are two Recreational Areas managed by the Bureau of Land Management within the Rio Grande Gorge. Camping, hiking, boating access to the Rio Grande River and picnic areas are available at both the Orilla Verde and the Wild Rivers Recreation Areas. The Orilla Verde Recreation Area presents visitors with a unique opportunity to view a variety of wildlife and see petroglyphs and other ancient archaeological sites. The Wild Rivers Backcountry Byway is a roadway that provides motorists with incredible views from the rim of the Rio Grande Gorge. One of the biggest and most impressive attractions at Rio Grande Gorge is the Rio Grande Bridge. You can walk on sidewalks across the 500-foot expanse of the Bridge and see the Rio Grande River 650 feet below. Incredible views and photographic opportunities of the Rio Grande Gorge are available from overlooks along the Bridge.
