Surrey is one of the smallest counties in the South of England but there are over more than 100 independent schools in Surrey.  You maybe wondering why a small county like Surrey would need this many independent schools but if you examine the position of the county then it is easy to see why.

Surrey is a rural county that is located just outside of London and this is part of the reason.  Many families whose main bread earners work in London choose to raise their family in a rural location rather than within a city.  Surrey is the perfect county for this as it has vast areas of green belt land whilst also having excellent transport links into the heart of London.  Therefore there are such a vast number of independent schools in Surrey because of the counties location and facilities.
