James Frey, who has seen good and bad days on Oprah’s show, has a new book called “Bright Shiny Morning.” A catchy phrase, but the book has received poor reviews. Perhaps this writer’s fall from grace has affected his confidence. The book is based on life in Los Angeles, following several different story lines that, according to reviews, never connect. The story is told from the point of view of unfamiliarity. Even if you have never been to a city, a good writer will paint pictures with words which places you in the scenes. Frey’s poor attempt leaves you wondering where you are.
