Anyone can enter the field of physical therapy. But it takes more than just book learning to become a physical therapist. The physical therapist job description includes compassion along with all of the educational requirements. Without a sincere and earnest compassion for the patient, a person practicing physical therapy is nothing more than a robot. He or she must be able to relate to the patient and sympathize with the patient’s situation in order to truly heal and make progress. Although you will not likely see “compassion” listed as a course or even as part of a syllabus, future physical therapists must possess this trait in order to be successful.
