Small Made Big

Home No Comments »

How do you make a small room look bigger? We had to mull over this problem recently, when we moved to a new apartment. The house itself was huge but some corners of it weren’t and I’m pretty sure I whined plenty about this in my writings. Still, I’d like to think we rose to the challenge. Here are some of the things we did.1. We used a mirror. We placed a large mirror in the living room, opposite the door, to reflect the rest of the room and create the illusion of space.2. We kept things simple. We bought furniture that are just about the size of the place they’ll be placed in.3. We lightened up. Lightly colored walls, light window treatments, light furniture - you name it, we have it.

When Jerry and I decided that we were going to choose one room in our house to remodel, we had to do a little research, to see which one of the rooms was the one that needed a face lift the most. When it came down to the brass tacks, we decided that our smallest bathroom was the one room that could use a serious revamping. We got online and found an awesome web site that had some great small bathroom remodeling tips and ideas. We were able to bring our tiny bathroom up to speed and now we enjoy the fruits of our labors.

Looking for Small Bathtubs Online

Home No Comments »

My wife and I are in the process of converting the pantry off of our kitchen into a small bathroom. We have a small house and right now we only have one bathroom and we definitely need a second one. We are trying to figure out what we can fit in there. We have been looking for small bathtubs online. We were originally thinking about just putting a shower stall in there but we have young children and it would be a lot easier to bathe them on the first floor than to have to bring them upstairs. We figure if we can find one small enough, it should fit.

Upstairs Front Window

About maybe 3 weeks ago or so my cousins house suffered serious damage because of this extremely high winds, his upstairs front Window was shattered because of this tree branch that snapped off. I figured he would have to call some professionals even the wood around the window was banged up. He said he didn’t want to pay for a professional installation so he did the next best thing and call me. We installed it with relative ease. The real problem was trimming down the tree so hat wouldn’t happen again. With all the information available now amateurs can at least give a good effort in home repairs.

Need Garage Door Parts Fast?

Home No Comments »

There are some times when you need things fast, and you just don’t want to have to wait. For instance, when my door to my garage broke last winter, I was desparate to get it fixed. It was snowing and cold outside and I needed to be able to get my car in and out of my garage. I am a pretty handy guy, so I decided to do the repairs myself. I shopped online for parts for garage doors. I found what I needed it, ordered it, and it was shipped to me fast. Now, I can get in and out again.

Would you trust me doing this

This is really as nice as a supplier can be. While it is not really about the free coffee mugs that they are giving away, I really appreciate the effort that they are taking to reward us on the length of partnership that we have over these past years. Sometimes they say people just need to feel appreciated, and I cannot agree with it more. The coffee mugs might mean nothing to alot of people but to us, we are very grateful that they see us as partners and is willing to share with us some of their company more sensitive information. Now, this is the type of partnership that would be difficult to find elsewhere.

Can Adding A Mosaic Kitchen Backsplash Add Value To My Home?

Home No Comments »

A mosaic kitchen backsplash may have an elegant picture or it can have a random design. The best aspect of a Mosaic kitchen backsplash is that you can lay this kind of backsplash on your own and not have to worry about making a mistake or the wall being less than totally square. In many homes, the walls and floors fall short of being completely square; that is, they are not perfect. This can cause a problem when you are installing tile on the floor or to the wall, as it will cannot be flawless in some locations. When you put a Mosaic kitchen backsplash into your kitchen, you can enjoy a backsplash that is simple to keep clean, colorful and decorative, and one that is not under pressure to be flawlessly.

Can You Make Toast in the Microwave?

Home No Comments »

I know what you’re thinking. You can’t make toast in the microwave… warm bread, yes… toast, no. OK, so you can’t make toast literally inside the microwave, but you can buy a combination microwave with a built-in toaster. This is a nice way to save a little bit of space in your kitchen. If you’re going to combine a microwave with any one appliance, the toaster would be the one to choose if you’re like me and don’t make toast every day. I don’t care for toast for breakfast, as it gets cold so quickly, but it’s all right for the occasional sandwich. When your built-in toaster is not in use, it hides neatly behind a compartment door.

The tub that I feel will help me with my pain

Arthritis has been something I have had to deal with for the past eight months. Its a funny thing as I never had this pain ever before in my entire life. The thing that bothers me most is that I suddenly feel like I’m one hundred years old. I really feel this in my knees. One thing a friend of mine said to do was to get a Japanese soaking tub. These tubs cans help with the pain of arthritis. He said that because the tubs are deep and have a seat I can have my whole body up to my neck in hot water.

A Garden Drip System

Home No Comments »

Installing drip systems could be one of the worst things to do when you are a free spirited teenager living in 115 degree weather in Arizona.  It makes life so much easier in the future as all you have to do is turn a knob or two to water our garden, but man it is a pain to install.  You first have to dig your little trenches all around the garden creating an elaborate coordinate plane type diagram around our future plants.  Then you work with yards and yards of black, rubber tubing; measuring, cutting and capping over and over again.  It was like nothing like we say on those garden websites. You also have to work with PVC piping when installing into your main water line and PVC primer and glue is some of the messiest and smelliest stuff in the world…instant sinus headache.  So if you have the money, just contract out the work; your time is worth so much more, really, it is.

Stealing Oranges

For as long as I can remember my family has grown and tended citrus trees.  When I was five I remember eating grapefruits the size of my head at my grandmother’s house.  Throughout high school I would help my mother in preparing fruit boxes to give out to our neighbors and family friends.  I was always confused and taken aback when I went to my friends’ houses for dinner and there was no plate of delicious orange and tangerine wedges to go along with the meal.  What gardener doesn’t want to grow such great food! Breakfast consisted of oatmeal or cereal accompanied by grapefruit with a large spoonful of sugar dumped on top of it.  I would encourage everyone in the appropriate climate to keep a citrus tree or two because they are so easy to tend to and they produce fruit like crazy.
