Does anyone know whether it is better to insure young drivers on their parents insurance or get them their own policy straight away?  Young driver insurance premiums seem so expensive these days, and I have heard that it can be substantially reduced if the new driver drives a car which is driven by another more experienced motorist, but only if the insurance policy is in the more experienced driver’s name. But then how do they start earning their own no claims bonus?  Some of my friends have told me that it is cheaper in the long run for the young drivers to get their own policy as the high premium in the beginning will soon go down if they drive carefully and don’t have any accidents.  I guess having your own insurance policy rather than relying on mum and dad will probably help them grow up a bit quicker which can’t be a bad thing and you can always pay in monthly instalments.
