One of the hardest parts of being a professional wedding photographer is taking the formal pictures that are a must at the wedding.  The bride and groom will of course, want pictures of themselves with their respective parents and grandparents, they will want all the bridesmaids together and all the flower girls together, etc.. These can become boring shots to take when you have been a wedding photographer for some time, but this is your bread and butter so you just have to make the most out of it.  By now everyone is probably fed up having their photo taken by every Aunt Nellie and Uncle Albert, so you need to make it appear to be fun.  No matter how modern your bride is or how alternative she is, she will want these pictures in her album and is paying you to deliver that for her.
